ARMOUR Windshield Protectant is next level engineering in the fight to reduce windshield breakage from “Standard Interstate Rock Damage” and other roadside debris. Windshield glass viewed under a microscope appears to look like a mountain range with many peaks and valleys. These peaks and valleys contribute to an increase in glare from the sun. When you apply ARMOUR Windshield Protectant to your windshield it fills, coats and penetrates into the peaks and valleys of your windshield. This action smoothes the windshield glass considerably and reduces glare from the sun dramatically. ARMOUR Windshield Protectant places an “oil-slick” on the surface of your windshield. This “oil-slick” protects your windshield from rock damage by dropping the coefficient of fiction at the surface of your windshield. A good visualization of how our product works is when you skim a rock across a pond. Most of the time when a rock impacts your windshield it is traveling at a sharp angle. So, if you try to skim a stone across a pond that has no water in it; the stone would simply stick in the mud. If you fill the pond with water (or in this case ARMOUR Windshield Protectant) and try to skim your rock across the pond (or your windshield in this case) it will slide off the surface of the water (or in this case ARMOUR Windshield protectant) because the rock has nothing to grip onto and is gently deflected away from the windshield glass, causing no damage to the underlying surface.
When a rock impacts an untreated windshield the rock slams into the side of a microscopic windshield mountain range establishing a dry, secure impact point on the windshield glass and breaks the windshield glass, in many cases, causing you an ugly and expensive crack and an expensive repair and/or windshield replacement. The “oil-slick” that ARMOUR Windshield Protectant lays-down on the surface of the windshield glass does not allow rocks and other debris to “grip” the glass, on impact, reducing the likelihood of a rock or other debris cracking your windshield. This lack of grippage therefore reduces the slip co-efficient to where it approaches zero and reduces the frequency of windshield breakage by as much as 85%.
ARMOUR Windshield Protectant is a 100% solids product. However, ARMOUR Windshield Protectant will wear down due to outside weathering and constant wear from windshield wipers.
Therefore, we recommend that you reapply ARMOUR Windshield Protectant, monthly, or as needed.
